Billie L. Karel, MPH, RD, LDN, CDE

Billie specializes in nutrition for children and families, gastrointestinal health, and the prevention and management of chronic diseases.  Billie is a Certified Diabetes Educator and uses a weight-neutral approach to diabetes and prediabetes nutrition and self-management, emphasizing joy in eating, skill-building and self-compassion.  She previously worked at UNC Hospital as a cardiac care dietitian. In addition to her work at Lutz & Alexander, she works as a primary care nutritionist at Advance Community Health. Billie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from Stanford University, and earned her Masters in Public Health in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Billie especially enjoys working alongside families through the behavioral aspects of childhood feeding to optimize family nutrition and health.  She meets with clients in our Raleigh office.
