We asked Charlotte some questions to learn a bit more about her and her work as an eating disorders dietitian.
1. Describe your ideal client?
I enjoy working with teens (and their families) and young adults as they navigate their relationship with food and body image. I love when a client has an open mind and is willing to challenge themselves (this work isn’t easy!).
2. What three words best describe your therapeutic style with clients?
Individualized, compassionate, and supportive
3. What do you wish those struggling with eating disorders knew? Or what is one thing you wish your clients knew?
I wish people knew that they aren’t alone, that eating disorders aren’t something to be ashamed of, and that it’s not their fault for developing an eating disorder.
4. What does self care look like for you?
Self care for me is setting aside time every day to do one thing that is just for myself. This could be taking a hot shower, a face mask, or making a fun meal or dessert. I find that doing one small thing for yourself daily is a great way to take care of yourself without it feeling overwhelming or like a chore.
5. Outside of work you can find yourself doing___________________?
I love to craft! knitting, pottery, and candle making are my current favorites. I also enjoy spending time with family, friends, my two cats, and watching true crime documentaries!
6. What is your favorite food?
Spaghetti and meatballs
7. If you could do another job just for a day, what would it be?
A cake decorator! When I was in high school I took several cake decorating classes and thought it was so fun!
